Duke is in New York City to give his deposition against the Jerome family.  He is
returning to his hotel room.
Duke:  Thank you very much for dinner.
Guard: You didn't even eat any of it.
Duke: Oh, well in that case, give my apologies to the state.
Guard: You should get a good night's sleep.
Duke: Yeah.  I hope you're right.
Guard: Big day tomorrow.  See you in the morning.
They shake hands.
Duke: I'll be ready.  Good night.
Guard: Good night.
Duke enters the room to find a candlelight dinner for two.  He turns back to the
guards in surprise.
Duke: What is this?
He closes the door, sees Anna in a peignoir, and smiles.  "In a Sentimental
Mood" plays.
Duke: I don't believe this.  How did you get here?  How did you get past the
guards?
They hug and kiss happily.
Anna: Surprised?
Duke: Surprised, yes. (kiss) Very surprised.
Anna leads him into the room.
Anna: Pleased to see me?
Duke: (looking her over) Very pleased to see you.  How did you know I wanted
to see you so badly?
Anna: (kiss) Because I wanted to see you so badly. (kiss)
Duke: You're wonderful.
Anna: Yeah, I know. (giggles)
They kiss again.

Fade to black.

Duke crosses the room to Anna, who is sitting on the floor by the fire.
Duke: How is it?
Anna: Nice.
He takes her hands as she stands. They kiss.
Anna: (whispers) It's perfect.
Duke: (kisses her neck) Mmmm… You're perfect.
Anna: I am?
Duke: Your hair, your eyes, your lips… (kisses her forehead)
Anna: What else?
Duke: Well, I want to save the rest so it lasts a long time.
Anna: (kiss) Yeah… (kiss) A long time…
Duke: Is there anything else you'd like me to do?
Anna: Well, you could dress for the occasion, I think.
Duke: Go on…
Duke lifts his arms out to the sides, and Anna begins to unbutton his shirt.
Anna: Why do you have to have so many buttons?
They giggle.

Fade to black.

Anna and Duke are in bed kissing.  She wraps an arm around him and rests her
head on him.
Anna: I wish it could always be like this.
Duke: It will.
Anna: Tch.  I mean, we've had enough bloody excitement in our lives, don't
you think?
Duke: I'll say.  Pretty soon all our problems will be behind us and you, Robin
and myself are going to be the most boring family in the entire world.
They laugh.
Anna: Oh good… you think so.
Duke: I'm certain of it.
Anna: I wish I could feel like that.
Duke rubs his eyes and face.
Anna: You have to testify for the mob.  You know what that means.
Duke: I know what it means.  I'll have won the first round against Victor
Jerome.  Nobody's ever done that.
Anna: But he could send someone after you.  I mean he's a very dangerous
person.  So is his daughter.
Duke: Shh.  Olivia has her own problems.  She'll be in the hospital for quite
some time.
Anna: I hope so.
Duke: I'll take care of Victor and Olivia when the time comes.  Now this happens
to be a very private party we're having here this evening.  There's only two
people invited.
Anna: When are they coming?
They laugh.
Duke: You and me.  Can we forget the rest?
Anna: Yeah.
Duke sits up and pours some champagne.  He hands the glass to Anna.
Duke: Here's to us.
Anna: To us.
Anna drinks from the glass and then Duke takes it and does the same.
Duke: The only thing that matters is that I love you very, very much.
Anna: (smiles) I love you too.
They kiss.

Fade to black.

Anna is straddling Duke, who is face down on the bed enjoying a massage.
Duke: Ahhh… you have many mysterious talents…
Anna: Mm-hm.  Just think if I did this every night for a hundred years you'd live
to be a very happy old man.
Duke laughs.
Duke: If we did this every night for six months, I'd be dead.
Anna laughs.
Anna: Should I stop there?
Duke: No.  Go on.  Let me die with a smile on my face.
Anna slaps him playfully on the waist.
Anna: Shut up.
Anna lies down on her stomach next to him.
Duke: Do you know something?
Anna: No.  Tell me.
Duke: You're the most wonderful woman I've ever met.  I don't know what I'd
do without you.
Anna: You just better remember that then.
Duke: I will. Every day for the rest of my life, whether it's long or short.
Anna: (upset) Don't say that.
Duke kisses her.
Anna: You mustn't say that.  You mean so much to me, you know?
Duke: A few more days and our lives are gonna get back to normal, I promise.
A long look between them, then Anna looks away.
Anna: I could have killed Olivia, you know?
Duke: Shh.
Anna: No, I could…
Duke: I don't want to hear that.
Anna: If it had just been a couple more minutes I'd have… I could have killed
her.  Then she would have been out of our lives.
Duke: Don't torture yourself , Anna.  Stop it.  Why do you have to talk about
that?  She can't do us any harm now.
Anna: Well, I'm not so sure.
Duke: I'm very sure.  I'm certain.  Nobody can come between us, not now.
He takes her hand and kisses it over and over.
Anna: You know what I want to do?
Duke: Make it good.
Anna laughs.
Anna: I want to have a shower.
Duke: Oh.  A nice, long, hot one?
Anna: Yeah.
Duke: Can I come?
Anna: Of course.
Duke laughs and they go off to shower.
Radio: This is a Radio New York news bulletin.  Olivia St. John has been
removed from the critical list at General Hospital in the upstate community of
Port Charles.  According to news reports from Port Charles, she has now
recovered from the coma, and her condition is no longer considered to be
critical.

Fade to black.

Duke and Anna are sitting in bed wearing matching turquoise bathrobes.  Duke
is brushing Anna's hair.
Anna: Mmmm…
Duke pushes her hair to one side and kisses her neck and shoulder.
Anna: (smiling) I'm beginning to feel guilty.
Duke: You shouldn't feel guilty—we're married.
He continues brushing her hair.
Anna: You have to get up so early to go to the D.A.'s office.
Duke: I don't want to go to sleep.  I want to stay awake and do this.
Anna suddenly turns to him, gripping his arm.
Anna: Hold me.
Duke hugs her.
Anna: Don't let me go.
Duke: I won't.
She kisses him.  He kisses her.
Anna: This isn't like me. I don't know, I just feel… I feel like if I let you go, it's
all gonna be over.  They're gonna send somebody after you and they're gonna
catch up with you one day.
Duke: Do you trust me?  Do you believe in me?
Anna: You know I do.
Duke: Then listen to me, and believe what I have to tell you. This will all be
behind us very soon.  We'll get on with our lives.  No one will ever harm us.  I
promise you.
They kiss and lean back on the bed with their bodies entwined.
